Test the Android app
WatchTrail is coming to Google Play. Before a new app can be released, Google asks for a group of testers to use it for two weeks. You can be one of them.
The test opens in early November.
The sign-up links will appear here. Meanwhile, the web app can already be installed on your phone from the settings.
Install the web appWhat we ask
- Keep the app installed and stay signed up for 14 days in a row: that's Google's rule, leaving resets the count.
- Use it as usual, a few times a week: tick your episodes, play Watchdle. Google checks that the app is really used.
- Tell us what doesn't work, at contact@watchtrail.app: that's what we fix before release.
Three steps
- 1
Join the testers group
Tap “Join group” with the Google account on your phone. This group is what gives access to the test.
- 2
Accept the test
On the Google Play page, tap “Become a tester”. Use the same Google account as in step 1.
- 3
Install the app
Open the WatchTrail page on Google Play and install it. Your account is there: the site's sign-in stays open.
Questions
Do I need an Android phone?
Yes, Android 10 or later, with a Google account. On iPhone, the web app is the way: install it from Safari.
Do I keep my shows and history?
Yes: the app shows your WatchTrail account, the same as on the site. Nothing to import.
Who sees my Gmail address?
Sign-up goes through Google (a Google group and Google Play). WatchTrail sees the list of addresses in the group, uses it only for the test, and deletes the group when the app is released.
What if I want to stop?
You can leave the test at any time from its Google Play page, or leave the group. The web app and your account stay.
