WatchTrail is a free web app to track your TV shows episode by episode and your movies: tick what you've watched, find your next episode in one tap, rate, comment and see your watch stats. It's the alternative built for former TV Time users.
Yes. Show and movie tracking, TV Time import, the calendar, notifications, statistics and the yearly recap are 100% free with no ads. Comfort options (themes, advanced customization) will arrive later with WatchTrail Plus — the core will always stay free.
Go to watchtrail.app/import and drop the .zip file exported from TV Time: we read everything inside — shows, episodes, watched and to-watch movies, your « to watch » list AND your original watch dates. The import can be re-run without creating duplicates.
If you exported your history (the GDPR request ZIP, or CSV files), yes: drop it on the import page and everything is restored. If you never exported, know that TV Time wiped its servers on July 15, 2026: a GDPR request no longer returns anything. What remains is the app's local copy on your phone (the DioCache.db file, recoverable from an iPhone or Android backup): the import guide explains how to read it with free tools and import it. Otherwise, you can start fresh on WatchTrail and re-tick your key shows in minutes.
WatchTrail brings back what TV Time fans miss most — 1-tap tracking, “watch next”, per-episode comments with hidden spoilers, MVP character votes — and adds universe checklists (MCU, Star Wars, DC), a subscribable calendar and a full TV Time import with dates. And the whole core is free, without ads. Every show has its page with all seasons: tick an episode, a whole season or the entire show. The home screen then shows “Watch next”: the next episode of each show you're watching, most recent first. On mobile, a simple swipe marks an episode as watched.
Yes, per show: enable the bell on a show page and pick email and/or push notification. You can set the send time, get alerted if a show is cancelled, and even subscribe to your personal calendar feed (.ics) to see upcoming episodes in your phone's agenda.
Interactive checklists of the big sagas: every movie and show of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars or DC, to tick in release or chronological order. Your progress syncs with your library, and you can create your own universes.
Yes: rate every episode, show or movie with stars (half-stars included) and see the community average after you vote. Each episode also has comments — with spoilers hidden by default, emoji reactions and GIFs — plus an MVP character vote.
Completely. From settings, export your whole account in one click: a full JSON file plus a CSV you can re-import as-is (episodes, movies, dates). You can also permanently delete your account at any time. No data is ever sold.
WatchTrail is a PWA: on your phone, add it to your home screen (“Install app” button in your profile) and it behaves like a real app, push notifications included — no app store needed.
The interface is available in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. The language is picked automatically from your browser, and you can change it anytime with the selector at the bottom of the page.
Yes: follow other profiles (no approval needed, like on Letterboxd), see their activity in the feed (“Following” and “Discover” tabs), like and comment on reviews, and compete on the leaderboard (weekly activity, all-time, contribution). Profiles are public by default; a private mode exists.
Everything core to WatchTrail is free forever (tracking, import/export, notifications, calendar, universes, social). Features marked ⭐ — profile themes, custom posters, episode quizzes, comment translation, universe creation, feed filters, private profile — will be part of a future optional subscription. There is nothing to pay today.
Yes. Drop your CSV export and we detect the format on our own. Trakt: full history, episode by episode, with dates — the most faithful migration. Simkl: movies, shows and how far you got; Simkl only exports the last episode watched per show, so we infer the earlier ones and only the last date is known. IMDb: your ratings become watched movies and your watchlist becomes movies to watch; IMDb has no notion of a watched episode, so shows arrive as “to watch”. Letterboxd: the official movie export. In every case we use the identifiers in the file (TMDB, IMDb, TheTVDB) rather than titles, so no mix-up between two films sharing a name. Serializd offers no export to date: there is nothing to import, and we cannot work around that.
