WatchTrail (https://watchtrail.app) is a free TV show and movie tracking service. This page describes what data we process, why, and your rights.
— Account: email address, and if you create a password account, the password is stored securely (hashed, never in plain text) by our authentication provider. With Google / X sign-in we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar).
— Usage: the shows, movies and episodes you track, your ratings, reviews, comments, lists, badges and notification preferences — the data YOU create to use the service.
— Social: the profiles you follow, your likes and comments. Like on Letterboxd, your profile, library and activity are public by default — a "private profile" mode hides your profile and removes your activity from the feed and leaderboards.
— Push notifications: if enabled, the technical endpoint provided by your browser.
— Measurement without identity: the number of sign-ups and completed imports (date, file format, number of episodes and movies) is counted server-side, with no identifier and regardless of the consent banner. If you answer the optional "how did you hear about us?" question, your answer is stored in your profile and deleted with it.
We collect no advertising data, no precise geolocation (your country, derived from your IP by our host, is only used to show streaming availability for your region), and we never sell data to third parties.
Technical cookies, always present: sign-in session (Supabase Auth) and language preference.
Audience measurement cookies (PostHog), set only if you accept them: until you answer the banner, no measurement script is loaded at all. They tell us which pages actually help — never for advertising, and nothing is sold. You can change your mind below, at any time.
No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers.
— Supabase (database & authentication) · Vercel (hosting) · Resend (email delivery) · TMDB (movie/TV data — receives no personal data) · PostHog (audience measurement, servers in the European Union — only if you accepted it).
Notification emails ("new episode") are only sent if you enable them, per show. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Sign-in emails are essential to the service.
You can export your data and delete your account at any time from your profile (deletion is immediate and permanent: account and history erased). Any request: contact@watchtrail.app.
Data is kept for as long as your account exists, then deleted when the account is closed.
