Nolan's The Odyssey: where to watch it, and when to expect streaming

July 24, 2026 · 4 min read

Released on July 15, 2026, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey posted the biggest worldwide opening of his career — over $264 million on its first weekend, and nearly 1.85 million admissions in France in week one. Naturally, one question is everywhere: where can you watch it, and when does it hit streaming?

Right now: in theaters, and nowhere else

That's the short answer, and it's firm: the film isn't on any streaming platform, nor available to rent or buy. Universal is running a deliberate theaters-first strategy on this title. If you find a site claiming to stream it today, it's pirated — with the usual risks.

  • Runtime: 2h53 (173 minutes) — plan your showing accordingly
  • Genre: adventure, action, fantasy
  • The pitch: twenty years after leaving for Troy, Odysseus tries to get home to Ithaca

When will it stream?

No date has been announced. That's a fact, and be wary of articles claiming otherwise: they're extrapolating. What can be said honestly is that Universal films of this scale usually get a long theatrical run before video on demand, then subscription — which reasonably puts a subscription release sometime in 2027, with no guarantee.

The right way not to miss it

Rather than re-typing 'The Odyssey streaming' every two weeks for a year, there's a simpler reflex: put the film on your watchlist and let the information come to you. On WatchTrail, when a watchlist title becomes available on a platform in YOUR country, you get an alert. Add it, forget it, and hear about it the day it lands.

  • Availability is checked country by country (rights differ everywhere)
  • The alert distinguishes subscription, rental and purchase
  • Free, no ads

In the meantime

If the wait drags on, the film's page always shows the real availability status in your country — the same data that triggers the alert, except you can check it whenever you want.
