Years of shows checked off episode by episode, hundreds of rated movies, watch statistics… and an email announcing the service shuts down on July 15, 2026. If you use TV Time, your history disappears with it — unless you export it now.
Step 1 — Export your data BEFORE the shutdown
This is the irreversible step: after the shutdown it will be too late. In the TV Time app, go to Settings → Account → “Export my data”. If you don't see the option, send an export request to their support (it's a GDPR right, they must comply). You'll receive one or more CSV files: they contain your entire history.
- Do it even if you don't know where you'll migrate yet: the file keeps.
- Check the CSV actually contains your episodes (open it — you should see show/season/episode/date rows).
- Keep a copy in your cloud (Drive, iCloud…).
Step 2 — Pick where to continue tracking
Several services can take over (we compare them in detail in our alternatives article). The decisive criterion: can it IMPORT your TV Time export? Starting from scratch after years of tracking is what makes most people give up.
Step 3 — Re-import everything (the WatchTrail example)
On WatchTrail, the import was built precisely for TV Time exports: drop the CSV, every show is resolved by its exact identifier (TheTVDB → TMDB, reliable even when titles or numbering differ), watch dates are preserved, and the final screen shows the exact count of what was imported. The import is safely re-runnable.
- Watched episodes + dates → progress and statuses recomputed (watching, completed…)
- Watched movies → movie library
- Statistics, yearly recap and calendar immediately up to date
