Where to watch a show legally? The simple reflex (based on your country)

July 18, 2026 · 4 min read

Everyone knows the moment: someone recommends a show, you search Netflix — nothing. Prime — nothing. You google the title and hit three sketchy sites before finding the answer. In 2026, with catalogs changing every month AND by country, 'where can I watch this?' has become a real question.

Why it got so complicated

  • Rights are sold PER COUNTRY: a Netflix show in the US can be on a different platform in France
  • Catalogs rotate: a show available in January can leave in June
  • Exclusives move with every contract renewal

The right reflex: a source that knows your country

Reliable data exists (provided by JustWatch via TMDB): for every show or movie, the exact list of platforms offering it for streaming, rental or purchase — country by country. On WatchTrail, every page has its 'Where to watch' section set to your country, detected automatically: open the page, know in 5 seconds.

The next level: getting notified when it ARRIVES

The most frustrating case: the show on your watchlist that isn't available anywhere in your country. Instead of checking every month, the 'arrived on your platforms' alert notifies you when a watchlist title lands on streaming in your country. Add the show to your list, move on — the info will come to you.

In practice

  • Search any show or movie and open its page
  • 'Where to watch' section: streaming / rental / purchase, in your country
  • Add it to your watchlist: you'll be notified when it lands somewhere

Search a show and see where to watch it
