Guess the actor is a daily memory game about movies and TV. You start with almost nothing: a year and a country of birth, and the number of well-known titles in a career. Every wrong answer adds a clue, from the subtle to the obvious: three titles the actor or actress played in, a blurred photo, then their most famous role. The goal is to find them with as few clues as possible.

How to play

• One actor or actress to find, six tries. Pick your guess from the list that opens as you type a name.
• Every miss adds a clue: three titles from their career, from least to best known, then a blurred photo, and finally their most famous title.
• A new actor every day at midnight UTC. Your game is saved on your device, so you can come back to finish it.

Three ways to play better

1. Year and country narrow the list fast: born in the UK in the 1970s is already a handful of names.
2. The first titles are the least known of their career: an obscure movie can be enough if you remember credits well.
3. A miss is never wasted: every wrong guess brings the next clue.

Where the data comes from

250 actors and actresses are playable, picked among TMDB's most popular people. To make the list, they need at least four well-known titles (1,000 votes for a movie, 300 for a show), two of them outside animation: a voice actor has no face the public knows. Talk shows and reality TV don't count. The list is frozen, so today's answer never changes during the day.
